November 2012 - Project Life Smash

Friday, November 29, 2013

Here's what I did for November 2012 in my Project Life SMASHbook - I used the pretty pink smashbook to do my own version of Project Life. I was testing it to see if I would be able to keep up with the "little things" that happened each month before I committed to doing a full blown Project Life 12x12 album.

I was definitely getting a little bored of this project - mostly because of the format. When you fill up a SMASHbook, it ends up being so fat. I find it difficult to work with because the pages won't lay flat. So by the time I got to November, I was really ready to wrap it up.

I got my Cameo last November. I really can't believe it's been a year since Joe bought it for me! The picture at the top of the right side is of the first two things cut on my Cameo. Joe had actually set up the machine and cut the little holiday owl for me by the time I got home from work. :) I made the "give thanks" card as part of a RAK last year. I made an extra for myself. Joe sent me flowers at work one day.

Joe and I went camping one weekend. We went to Dollywood to look at the holiday lights. We also climbed the ropes course since we had on closed toe shoes. Good thing we did - they tore it down after closing the park in 2012.

Project Life Week 43

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

This week was one of those weeks that was truly a mishmash of products. I had so many dark photos! I wasn't particularly motivated to put this spread together but I ended up being satisfied with it overall.

Week 43: Joe sent me a pic from his job, I saw some of my favorite customers (after many years), I got a new iPad charm, got Joe a new $100 bill at work, and we went camping.

Left side: I love when Joe sends me pictures from his day. This little piggie was at a farm they were working at this week. The stitched ampersand card was something I received as a bonus from one of the Project Life card swaps I've done. I love it! Maybe I need to not be so lazy about stitching...

How cute is this little dog? It's from a Dear Lizzy accent and phrase sticker sheet.

Right side: I restarted an old crochet project, we went camping, and Joe took a picture of me that I liked!

I love this little camper!

This is my favorite Kraft card:

This little banner is from a Chic Tags monthly kit. I've bought October and November so far. I've really enjoyed both of them!

December Daily 2013

Monday, November 25, 2013

So I'm (still!) not totally sure what I'm doing for my "December Daily"-ish book - but I have picked a color scheme. The papers I've picked ended up being more traditional than I had planned, but are still modern. Lots of red, green, blue, chalkboard, gold, and wood grain. I actually cut my beloved Crate Paper gold dot and gold doily vellum papers and I'm so glad I did! (I'm not the only one who has heart palpitations when I cut a beautiful piece of paper, right? It's getting easier, but still...)

I was originally going to go with more vintage looking papers with pinks and blues and silvers, but I got my fill of that with my #30Lists project I'm doing. (It's not too late to sign up for that, by the way.)

I've pulled papers and bits from several paper collections including Glitz 'Hello December', Heidi Swapp 'Believe', American Crafts 'Kringle and Company', Studio Calico's 'Wonderland' and Basic Grey's '25th and Pine'. I also have some overlays that I'm going to use.

I'm using a Studio Calico Handbook. I'm a little bit scared to do anything to the cover. Have you painted one before? Any tips? Link me up in the comments to any pictures or tutorials you have. I'm very open to suggestions on this one!

I got out some stamps, stickers, and flair to make these 4x6 cards:

I have some little bits and wood veneers in this cute little muffin tin I found at an antique store ($5!).

I have pulled a lot more stickers and bits too.

So are you ready to do December Daily? Or Journal Your Christmas? Or something in between?

December 30 Days of Lists Prep

Friday, November 22, 2013

I've decided to make a tag style mini album for December's 30 Days of Lists. It seems like a quick and easy way to do this project without getting behind. While I'm leaning towards making my lists holiday-related, some may not end up being too themed. These cards are adorable and wintery, but not really Christmas-y. You know what I mean, right? ;) Take a peek at some of my progress so far and then sign up [affiliate] to do this project with me! It will be fun!!

I just knew I needed these snowy looking Thickers when I bought them:

Just added a few random enamel dots to this tag:

This one is so cute, I may not embellish it at all! At least not until I'm done writing my list.

I added the snowflakes to this card:

I really like this card! I used a nice wide washi tape and a wood veneer Christmas tree that I colored with a brush marker. (both embellies from Freckled Fawn).

I added 3 Dew Drops to the corner of this one. May add something else later.

I just love this pattern:

One of my favorite Christmas sayings!

I colored and added a wood veneer star to this card:

And there it is, all fanned out so you can see the color scheme.

DIY Dyed Bottle Brush Trees

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

I love these DIY dyed bottle brush trees!! I got an 8-pack of mini white sisal trees at Michael's for $2 (well I only paid $1.49 since I had a coupon, but whatev...) Then I used my Heidi Swapp Color Shine to spruce up the trees, haha ;) I'm sure other mists would work, but these were the perfect colors. They look very vintage to me, which is the look I was hoping to achieve!

I used Tinsel, Teal, Gold, and Primrose.

These little ones are going to be placed in a small apothecary jar on my piano... but I would like to spray some bigger trees and see how they turn out!

Have you used any mists on bottle brush trees? Any brands I should try? Any brands I should avoid?

Project Life Week 42

Monday, November 18, 2013

Here is week 42:

Left side: flowers, Cracker Barrel, repotting my succulents, and a beautiful sky.

I stamped these leaves and sentiment (from the Chic Tags November embellishment kit) onto a Jade card.

Right side: a night out with a friend, a bonfire with Joe's family, a massage, a visit with Dad and Harley, and my autumn wreath.

More of those leaf stamps, this time on a Chic Tags November kit Project Life card.

These wood veneers are so cute.

This wood veneer frame turned out nice:

I love this picture of Harley. She's so cute!

I finished doing Week 43 tonight, and I've got a couple more weeks to do and I will be caught up on PL. I like it better when I'm caught up. How about you?

I've linked up at The Mom Creative's Project Life Tuesday - go check it out and get more PL inspiration!

December 30 Days of Lists

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

So guess what? There's going to be a special December edition of 30 Days of Lists. Registration is now open!! It's a great way to capture what's going on in your life RIGHT NOW.  The prompts won't necessarily be holiday related, but you can interpret them however you like. (I'm leaning towards making them all holiday lists).

It just takes 5 or 10 minutes a day. No matter how busy you are, take the time for yourself. How fun will it be to look back on these lists in a few years?

I'm going to be making my lists on 3x4 cards. I may end up adding them to a December Daily. If I don't, I could put a binder ring on the cards and make a mini album. Or I could add them to my current Project Life as inserts each week. However you do it is fine - there's no wrong or right way to do 30 Days of Lists.

Want to join in on the fun?

This is an affiliate link and I will be compensated if you register through this link. I'm helping sponsor 30 Lists this time.

December Daily Cards

Monday, November 11, 2013

I made these cards for the Project Life Card Swap - the theme was December Daily! I love the "This is Magic" stamp that was included in my Oh Deer Me October kit. It was the perfect sentiment for a fun holiday card.

I considered using a doily on the card, but I ended up using my Cameo to cut a snowflake for the card. I love the red star washi tape.

I had two colors of foam stickers, so I made half the cards with the light green and half with the dark green.

Have you started your December Daily yet?

Hello Autumn Wreath

Thursday, November 7, 2013

I made this fall wreath using Basic Grey's Persimmon collection. I used every sheet in the collection - I love them all!

I started by arranging rolls of paper in a circle and hot gluing them. I used shorter rolls to make a second layer on top. And then I realized I hadn't kept a sheet of paper to make something to cover up the gaping hole in the middle. (Yikes!!)

Luckily there were some coordinating shapes available in the Silhouette Cameo store. I got this cute pumpkin and "Welcome Autumn" sentiment. I just printed the sentiment onto scrapbook paper from another line - I think it matches well enough! Then I cut the pumpkin shape and put it over the middle of the wreath. I added a couple of star and arrow stickers from the Persimmon collection and considered it done!

Here you can see the dimension:

Project Life Week 41

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

This week I got a mani, we ate at Waffle House, I had a (yucky) work meeting, and we saw a double rainbow. We went to Atlanta for the weekend and had fun at the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, and Six Flags. I also got to go to Archiver's on the way back home. Great weekend!

Left side: more Amy Tan Cut and Paste and some hidden journaling. I mostly let the pictures do the talking this week - not a ton of visible journaling.

Right side: mani, bumper cars, tickets, and some of the products we tasted at the World of Coca-Cola.

I added some Simple Stories "I love summer" stickers to this card. This ride is called the Sky Screamer. I mostly kept my eyes closed on this one!

I'm linked up at The Mom Creative's Project Life Tuesday this week. It's a great source of inspiration!
